To the Deputy Mayor and Bailiffs of the Ancient Borough of Carnarvon
The humble petition of the resident Burgesses and other Inhabitants of the said Borough, being Tradesmen
Sheweth, That your Petitioners are much molested, and encroached upon, by several Travelling Pedlars, setting up their stalls, and exhibiting their goods, in the middle of the streets, opposite to the shops of many of your petitioners, to the great inconvenience of the public, and injury to the fair traders, who pay high rents and taxes, such Pedlars who now claim a right to make up all the public passage in the streets, and are most abusive if in anywise opposed in infringing upon the rights of the Corporation.
Your petitioners therefore hope that you will be pleased to direct such pedlars to remove their stalls from the public streets of the Town, and thereby protect the rights of the Borough and the interest of the fair traders
And your petitioners will ever pray
