The Jurors aforesaid upon their Oaths Say & present That a certain Common Highway sit. in the Borough afrd & called Newgate Street is a Common Highway and so has been from time whereof the memory of Man is not to the contrary And that (......) Griffith of Carnarvon Widow has made a purpresture upon the sd Common Highway in front of the Messuage in her occupation Situate in Newgate Street aforesaid by inclosing a part of the sd Common Highway for the purpose of making & keeping a Dung heap or Muck heap therein to the Nuisance of all the Kings Subjects [*Therefore this Court doth order that the said (......) Griffith do abate & remove the sd Erection & Nuisance & restore the sd Kings Common Highway to the state it was in before the sd Erection & Nuisance was made thereupon on or before the 6 day of Decr. under the Penalty of 40/-*]

Griffith Widow hath erected & made a certain haystall or Dungheap or Muckheap in the sd Common Highway called Newgate Street to the Common Nuisance of all the Kings Subjects Therefore this Court doth order that the sd (......) Griffith do remove & carry away the sd haystall Dungheap or Muckheap on or before the (......) day of (......) under the Penalty of -

And the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oaths further Say & present that Robert Williams of Carnarvon Carter hath erected & placed a certain Stone Step upon the Kings Common Highway called Newgate Street in front of & adjoining to his Dwellinghouse there to the Common Nuisance of all the Kings Subjects Therefore it is Ordered by the Court that the sd Robert Williams do remove & abate the sd erection & Nuisance & restore the sd Kings Common Highway to the State it was in before the sd erection was made by him on or before the (......) day of (......) under the Penalty of 40/-

Fourth

And the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oaths further Say & present that a certain Common Highway leading from a certain other Common Highway called Boot Street within this Borough into a certain Common Highway called Bangor Street in the sd Borough is and from time whereof the memory of Man is not to the contrary hath been a Common Highway And that William Griffith of Carnarvon aforesaid Mariner has lately made a purpresture therein and has lately shut up & inclosed a part thereof to the Common Nuisance of all the Kings Subjects Therefore it is Ordered by this Court that the sd William Griffith do abate the sd enclosure & purpresture Nuisance & restore the sd Kings Common Highway leading from Boot Street aforesaid to Bangor Street aforesaid to the State it was in before such purpresture & Nuisance was by him made therein on or before the 6th day of Decr under the Penalty of 40/- 39/11

And the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oaths further say & present that a certain Common Highway in this Borough called Northern Penrallt Street is and from time whereof the memory of Man is not to the contrary has been a Common Highway And that Richard Griffith late of Carnarvon aforesaid did in his life time erect & place & Rowland Griffith of Carnarvon aforesaid hath continued a certain Stone Step in the sd Common Highway adjoining his Dwelling house in the sd Street which encroaches upon the Sd Common Highway in that Street To the Nuisance of all the Kings Subjects Therefore it is Ordered that the sd Rowland Griffith do on or before the (......) day of (......) remove & abate the sd erection & Nuisance & restore the sd Kings Common Highway to the state it was in before the sd Erection was made on or before the 6th day of (......) under the Penalty of 40/-

And the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oaths further Say & present that there now is & from time whereof the memory of Man is not to the contrary there has has been a certain Common Highway within the sd Borough leading from a certain other Highway called (......) near a certain House Tymwdwall down to a certain Public River called Afon Cadnant And that Anthony Dillon of Carnarvon aforesaid Seedsman has inclosed a part thereof & incroached thereon to the Common Nuisance of all the Kings Subjects Therefore it is Ordered that the sd Anthony Dillon do on or before the (......) day of (......) remove the sd Erection & abate the sd Nuisance & open & restore the sd Common Highway to the State it was in before the sd Erection was made on or before the (......) day of (......) under the Penalty of 40/-

And the jurors aforesaid upon their Oaths further Say & present that John Owen of Carnarvon aforesaid Shoemaker hath Incroached upon the sd Common Highway called the Southern Penrallt Street in the sd Borough by rebuilding a part of 2 Dwellinghouses in the sd Street upon part of the sd Common Highway called Southern Penrallt Street to the extent of (......) feet from north to south & (......) feet from east to west to the Common Nuisance of all the Kings Subjects Therefore it is Ordered that the sd John Owen do on or before the (......) day of (......) remove the sd Erection abate the said Nuisance & restore the sd Kings Common Highway to the State it was in before the sd erection was made thereon on or before the (......) day of (......) under the Penalty of 40/-

And the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oaths further Say & present that a certain Common Highway leading from Pool Street in the sd Borough to the Mill Pool in the sd Borough is & from time whereof the memory of Man is not to the contrary has been a Common Highway. And the Jurors afrd further say that Evan Evans of this Borough Shopkeeper has incroached thereupon & inclosed a part thereof to the Common Nuisance of all the Kings Subjects Therefore it is Ordered that the sd Evan Evans do on or before the (......) day of (......) remove the sd Enclosure abate the sd Nuisance & restore the sd Common Highway to the State it was in before the sd Enclosure was made on or before the (......) day of (......) under the penalty of 40/-

And the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oaths further Say & present that William Roberts of this Borough Surgeon hath incroached upon the sd Common Highway leading from Pool Street to the Mill Pool & inclosed a part thereof to the Common Nuisance of all the Kings Subjects Therefore it is Ordered that the sd William Roberts do on or before the (......) day of (......) remove the sd Enclosure abate the sd Nuisance & restore the sd Common Highway to the State it was in before the sd Enclosure was made on or before the (......) day of (......) under the penalty of 40/-

And the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oaths further Say & present that there was at the time of the Incroachment & Nuisance next hereinafter found to have been made & erected & from time whereof the memory of Man was not to the contrary there had been at the South east entrance into the Sd Borough a Common Highway called Greengate Way for all his Majesty's Subjects leading into a certain other Common Highway in the Sd Borough called Hole in the Wall Street And which Sd Common Highway called Greengate Way has been incroached upon & inclosed by William Roberts late of Carnarvon aforesaid Plumber & Glazier but now deced And that Hugh Roberts of Carnarvon aforesaid Shopkeeper has since the Death of the sd W Roberts continued Such Incroachment & Inclosure to the Common Nuisance of all his Majesty's Subjects Therefore it is Ordered that the sd Hugh Roberts do remove the Sd Erections & restore the Sd Common Highway to the state it was in before the sd Erections were made on or before the (......) day of (......) under the Penalty of 40/-

And the Jurors afrd further say That the Mayor Bailiffs and Burgesses of this Borough and their Successors, are Lords of the sd Borough & and are possessed or intitled to them & their Successors for ever of in or to the Land or Soil of all the Waste Lands & Commons within the Circuit & precincts of the sd Borough & its Liberties

And the Jurors afrd further say That a certain piece or parcel of Land situate upon the North Quay in this Boro' & extending from (......) to (......) & containing the Admeasurements following (......) is parcel of Waste Lands of the sd Boro' whereof the sd Mayor Bailiffs & Burgesses are seized in fee to them & their Successors for ever

And the Jurors afrd further Say That from time whereof the memory of Man is not to the contrary the sd Piece of Waste Ground has been & is a Common Public Wharf or Landing place from whence & upon which All the Kings Subjects are entitled to Ship & unship Goods Wares and Merchandize into & out of Ships & Vessels in the River Menai lying contigious thereto And that during all the time afrd All his Majesty's Subjects have enjoyed, & of right ought to enjoy the Right of Passing and repassing over the sd Parcel of Waste Land with Waggons Carts & Horses & Merchandize to and from such River lying or riding or (...?...) from (...?...) Ships & Vessels lying or Riding therein

And the Jurors afrd further say that Robert Roberts of Carnarvon afrd Esq hath Erected a Building thereon called a Sail Room & also Eight Dwelling houses which are commonly called Bank Buildings To the Common Nuisance of all His Majesty's Subjects It is therefore Ordered That the sd Robert Roberts do on or before the (......) day (......) remove the sd Erection & abate the sd Nuisance and restore the sd Ground to the state it was in before the sd Erections were made under the Penalty of 40/-

The Jurors afrd upon their Oaths Say & Present That a certain Common Highway site in the Borough aforesaid and called Newgate Street is a Common Highway and so has been from time whereof the Memory of Man is not to the Contrary and that That (......) Griffith of Carnarvon Widow has erected made a purpresture upon the sd Kings Common Highway in front of the House Messe in her occupation situate in Newgate Street afrd in the said Town of Carnarvon a place to keep a Dunghill and thereby and has by haystall or inclosing a part of the sd Kings Common Highway for the purpose of making and keeping a Dung heap or Muck heap in or within the sd Erection & Inclosure to the Nuisance of all the Kings Subjects and (...?...) haystall or made & kept & now makes & keeps a Dungheap therein and thereof & has so erected purpresture encroached upon the Kings Common Highway in that said Street Therefore it is Ordered that to the Common Nuisance of all the Kings Subjects the Kings Subjects Therefore this Court doth Order That the the said (......) That a certain part of the Kings Common Highway leading from a certain other Highway called Boot Street into within this Boro into a certain Common Highway called Bangor Bangor Street in the said Town of Carnarvon has been shut up and enclosed by Borough is & from time whereof the memory of man is not to the Contrary has been a Common Highway And that William Griffith of Carnarvon aforesaid Mariner has made a (...?...) Dwelling Houses thereon Therefore it is ordered That the said Henry Jones do remove the said Erections and restore the said Ground to the said Corporation to the State it was in before the said Erections were made on or before the (......) day of (......) under the Penalty of £

Dwelling Houses thereon Therefore it is Ordered That the said Samuel Lloyd do remove the said erections and restore the said Ground to the said Corporation to the state it was in before the said Erections were made on or before the (......) day of (......) under the Penalty of £

That the late Mr. Richard Griffith of Carnarvon aforesaid deceased in his life time erected a Step before a Dwelling House in a certn Common Highway in this Boro called Northern Penrallt Street in the said Town of Carnarvon now in thew Occupation of is & fm time whof the Memory of Man is not to the Contrary has been a Common Highway and that Richard Griffith late of Carnarvon afrd did in his life time enclose & place Rowland Griffith of Carnarvon afrd hath continued a certain Stone Step in the sd Common Highway & projects to & adjoins his Dwelling house in the sd Street which projects to and encroaches upon the Kings sd Common Highway in that Street and that the said Dwelling House is now the Property of Mr. Rowland Griffith Son of the said Richard Griffith Therefore It is ordered that the said Rowld Griffith do remove & abate the said erection & nuisance and restore the said King's Common Highway to the State it was in before the said Erection was made on or before the (......) day of (......) under the Penalty of £ 40/-

And the Jurors afrd furr Say That there was formerly a piece of Ground unenclosed commencing at the Geo Bettiss of this Boro Innkeeper hath encroached upon the Waste of this Borough by enclosing a certain Piece of Waste Land commencing at the Gable end of the late Mr John Morris's Houses at the extremity of the said Northern Penrallt Street and determining at or near Twthill Lodge in the Occupation of (......) Jones Widow which said piece of unenclosed Ground adjoins to a certain Field the Property of the Most Noble the Marquis of Anglesey and to which piece of Ground the Corporation and Borough of Carnarvon had the Right of Soil and the Public had a free Right of Passage over it and that George Bettiss of Carnarvon aforesaid Innholder hath enclosed the said piece of Ground by erecting a Wall between it and the Common Highway Therefore it is ordered that the said George Bettiss do remove the said Erection and restore the said Kings Common Highway to the state it was in before the said Erection was made on or before the (......) day of (......) under the Penalty of £

And the Jurors afrd furr Say That the sd Geo: Bettiss hath further incroached upon the Waste Lands of this Borough by inclosing a Piece of such Waste Land That there was formerly a piece of Ground unenclosed within the Liberties of the said Borough commencing at the corner of Twthill lodge aforesaid and determining at a Barn and outbuildings the Property of Richard Garnons Esqr which said piece of unenclosed Waste Ground adjoins to a certain field the Property of Rice Thomas Esqr and to which piece of Ground the Corporation of the Borough of Carnarvon had the Right of Soil and the public had a free Right of Passage over it and that the said George Bettiss hath enclosed the said piece of Ground by erecting a wall between it and the Public Highway Therefore it is ordered that the said George Bettiss do remove the said Erection and restore the said Kings Common Highway to the state it was in before the said Erection was made on or before the (......) day of (......) under the Penalty of £

And the Jurors afrsd upon their Oath afrsd furr Say That a certain Lane being part of the Kings Common Highway leading from Pool Street in the sd Boro to the Mill Pool in the sd Boro is & from time whereof the Memory of Man is not to the Contrary has been a Common Highway And the Jurors afrd fur say that has been shut up and Inclosed by Evan Evans Shopkeeper of this Boro Shopkeeper and William Roberts of this Boro Surgeon both of Carnarvon aforesaid has incroached thereupon and inclosed a part thereof to the Common Nuisance of all the Kgs Subjects Therefore it is ordered that the said Evan Evans and William Roberts do remove the said Enclosure abate the sd Nuisance and (...?...) and restore the said Kings Common Highway to the state it was in before the said Enclosure was made on or before the (......) day of (......) under the Penalty of £ 40/-

That there was formerly a Robert Roberts Esq of this Boro hath Incroached upon the Wastes thereof by inclosing with a Brick Wall a (...?...) piece of Waste Ground unenclosed within the liberties of the said Borough commencing at the extreme end of Pool Street and determining at the Tythe Barn which said piece of unenclosed Waste Ground so inclosed as afrd adjoins to a certain Field the Property of the Right Honourable Lord Newborough and to which piece of Ground the Corporation of the Borough of Carnarvon had the Right of Soil and the Public had a free Right of Passage over it and that the said Robert Roberts Esq hath enclosed the said piece of Ground by erecting a Wall between it and the Public Highway Therefore it is ordered that the said Robert Roberts do remove the said Erection and restore the said Kings Common Highway to the state it was in before the said Erection was made on or before the (......) day of (......) under the Penalty of £

That Hugh Hughes of Carnarvon aforesaid Shipwright several years ago has encroached upon the Waste Lands of this Boro' enclosing a piece of Ground belonging to the Corporation part of the Wastes of this Borough situate in a Sloping direction between Love Lane and the new road leading from the Quay to Pontsaint which said Piece of Ground hath been since converted into Gardens by the said Hugh Hughes or his Tenants Therefore it is ordered that the said Hugh Hughes do remove the said Enclosure and restore the said Piece of Ground to the State it was in before the said Enclosure was made on or before the (......) day of (......) under the Penalty of £

That Thomas Jones of Bryntirion Esqr has encroached upon the Corporation Property Waste Lands of this Borough by building & (...?...) (...?...) the Machine Cottage thereon to the extent of (......) yards in Length and (......) yards in Breadth more adjoining to the Machine erected by him upon the Lands (...?...) to him than the Premises comprized in the Lease granted ti him by the Corporation Mayor Bailiffs & Burgesses of this Boro Therefore it is ordered that the said Thomas Jones do alter and remove the building and restore the same to the State and extent it was intended by the Lease granted to him on or before the (......) day of (......) under the Penalty of £

That And the Jurors afrd furr Say that there was at the time of the Incroachment & Nuisance (...?...) hereinafter found (...?...) (...?...) (...?...) & erected & from time whereof the Memory of Man was not to the Contrary there had been at the South East Entrance into the sd Borough and That there was formerly a public South east entrance or Gateway being the Kings Common Highway called Greengate Way for all his Majestys Subjects leading into a certain other Common Highway in the sd Boro' called Hole in the Wall Street in the said Town Boro of Carnarvon and which sd Common Highway was commonly called Greengateway and that such entranceor Gateway has been shut up encroached upon & inclosed by the late William Roberts late of Carnarvon aforesaid Plumber and Glazier by erecting several Dwelling Houses on a piece of Ground adjoining to back entrance or passage and that Hugh Roberts of Carnarvon aforesaid Shopkeeper has continued such Encroachment & Nuisance Inclosure to the Common Nuisance of all his Majestys Subjects in the acting (...?...) and (...?...) managementof the said Dwelling Houses during (...?>..) (...?...) (...?...) of the children of the said William Roberts Therefore it is ordered that the said Hugh Roberts do remove the said Erections and restore the said Entrance & Passage Common Highway to the State it was in before the said Erections were made on or before the (......) day of (......) under the Penalty of 3 40/-

And the Jurors aforesaid further Say That the said George Bettiss hath further incroached upon the Waste Lands of this Borough by inclosing a Piece of such Waste Land That there was formerly a piece of Ground unenclosed within the Liberties of the said Borough commencing at the corner of Twthill Lodge aforesaid and determining at a Barn and Outbuildings the Property of Richard Garnons Esqr which said Piece of unenclosed Ground adjoins to a certain Field the Property of Rice Thomas Esqr and to which Piece of Ground the Corporation of the Borough of Carnarvon had the Right of Soil and the Public had a free Right of Passage over it And that the Said George Bettiss hath inclosed the said piece of Ground by erecting a Wall between it and the Public Highway Therefore It is Ordered that the said George Bettiss do remove the said Erection and restore the said Kings Common Highway to the state it was in before the said erection was made on or before the (.....) day of (......) under the Penalty of £

The Gwynedd Archives Service Ref. is XD1/367. Three pages have been catalogued separately, in XD1/368. As can be seen by the above, there is much repetition in the presentment. It has been extremely difficult to sort the pages into order, and it has to be borne in mind that errors might have been made in this instance.
