Salute the Soldier Week 1944

06/12/2006. In 1944 the Government decided to raise money to enable them to equip the Army by encouraging citizens to invest in National Savings. This drive was promoted by having "Salute the Soldier Weeks" in cities, towns and villages across the country. In Carnarvon, this week took place from 17th. to the 24th. of June. The story of Carnarvon's Salute the Soldier Week, together with photographs of the opening parade, can be found in the Miscellaneous Section.
