A few years ago I was given access to the attic of the old "Genedl" building in Balaclava Road, before it was shut down. What I found was a large number of old editions of Y Genedl, all dating to 1899, along with a few other bits and pieces. Sadly, because of the heat and dryness they had been stored in, they had turned into nothing more than a brittle pile which turned to dust at the slightest touch.
