The Investiture of the Prince of Wales took place at Carnarvon Castle on the 13th. July 1911. Edward, of course, went on to become King Edward VIII, later to abdicate in the furore over Mrs. Wallis Simpson. David Lloyd George, who as Constable of the Castle oversaw the proceedings, was the Chancellor of the Exchequer in what were the early years of a mercurial political career in government.
